Placement Description
Position Overview:
The main role of a Program Assistant is to help develop various programs within our ministry and to offer assistance within case management. This will involve preparing, organizing, and co-leading various events for children of prisoners and their families.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Work with Program Director to create various programs
•Helps organize and attends events for children, their families, and mentors
•Initiates and builds relationships with families through home visits and phone calls
•Conducts family/child assessment/intake
•Conducts interviews, reference checks and background checks on potential mentors and volunteers
•Makes mentor matches between mentors and children
•Maintains database information and documents outcomes
•Identifies children of prisoners through prison visits and other referral sources
•Assists in mentor recruitment efforts, which may involve giving presentations, posting volunteer opportunities, or attending information fairs
•Prays with and for volunteers, families and staff
Required Qualifications & Experience:
•Experience in working with needy and dysfunctional families is preferred
•A heart and passion for, and patience working with needy and dysfunctional families
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to speak truth in love
•Highly organized, efficient and multifunctional, with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
•Proficiency with internet and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel applications
•Integrity and a respect in the handling of confidential information
•A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ

Job requires using personal vehicle for job related activities.

The intern will gain experience in program development, event planning, networking, volunteer recruitment, interviewing, and case management. They will also get hands-on experience working with at-risk kids and families in need.
