To resolute or not, that is the question?
2010 is here! Did you read that as, “two thousand and ten” or “twenty-ten”? Well, that is another question for another day. With this New Year and as a matter of fact, new decade upon us, we come to the age old question, “Do I make a resolution or not?”
If you were to make a New Year’s Resolution it would probably be to quit a bad habit, or to get out of debt, maybe something to do with loved ones (i.e. spend more time with family). Or of course, the one the majority of Americans need to make, lose weight!
Maybe you are one of those people who sees the glass half full. So instead of quitting a bad habit, you focus on committing to good habits. Physical exercise or yes, spiritual exercise: to pray, read the Bible, or even attend church more regularly.
After the holiday season, which is full of family (which for many, cause stress or reminds you why you moved in the first place), food (we eat too much and too often) and fun (well, I will leave that for you to define), it seems like a logical time to make a commitment to God, spouse or self.
If you were to make a resolution, don’t get frustrated if you fall short. A study by the University of Washington found that only 40% of people who stick to their #1 resolution did it on the first try. The rest had to try multiple times; 17% finally reached their goal after more than 6 attempts. In other words, if you fail, try and try again! Determination does pay off!
So are you making a resolution this year? If so, what is it? Just in case you’re wondering, I am! That is the reason why there is a blog to read!
